Trento Smart City Week is an informational event that takes a cue from the inclusion of the city in the chart of the ten smartest cities worldwide (IEEE ranking)

The first edition took place from 10 to 15 September 2016 with the aim to communicate to the citizens how the city has evolved during the previous years becoming a place where the technology enables the public administration to provide efficient services and the citizens to contribute actively to the well-being of the community.
A series of appointments took place during the week to explore the six themes identified by the Municipality of Trento: e-government and participation, mobility and transport, health and welfare, tourism, energy, open and big data.
The citizens have been able to experience firsthand what it means to be a smart city and to participate in round table discussions, information seminars, demonstrations, interactive laboratories, contests and exhibitions.
The event, which ran in parallel with the international IEEE 2016 Conference “Improving the citizens’ quality of life” that drew a lot of foreign researchers and academics in Trento, was largely promoted through news and insights on the main national an local newspapers, TV networks and internet media.
