PreCrisis
PRECRISIS - PRotECting public spaces thRough Integrated Smarter Innovative Security is a two-year project in which the Municipality of Trento is a partner. The project will strengthen the protection of urban public spaces in order to prevent the threat of terrorist attacks and violent crimes (e.g. mass riots) and mitigate their consequences.

The services involved and responsible for the project are: Smart City Project - Innovation and Digital Services Service, Primary Urbanisation Works Service and Local Police
The project coordinator is SAHER EUROPE (Estonia)
OBJECTIVES
The PRECRISIS project will strengthen the protection of urban public spaces in order to prevent the threat of terrorist attacks and violent crimes (e.g. mass riots) and mitigate their consequences. The project will promote smarter and innovative integrated security through the strengthening of law enforcement agencies (LEAs), first responders, local public space managers and additional security operators, as well as the strengthening of public-private cooperation.
To this end, innovative, sustainable and effective digital solutions and practical toolkits based on Artificial Intelligence will be developed, tested and implemented, in full compliance with ethical standards and applicable data protection legislation, innovating existing skills, best practices and security approaches by design to secure public spaces and reduce vulnerabilities of sensitive targets, including crowded areas, mass gatherings and special events.
ACTIVITIES OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF TRENTO
The Municipality of Trento will be involved in the continuation and extension of the activities started with the European projects MARVEL (H2020, 2021-2023), PROTECTOR (ISFP - DG Home, 2021-2023) and e-Security (ISEC - DG Home, 2013/2016), concerning the improvement of the urban security management system, with particular reference to the prevention of terrorist attacks and the protection of public spaces and "soft targets". For this purpose, a platform will be created that will analyse data from heterogeneous sources (surveillance cameras, social networks, city maps, etc.) and combine them through the support of highly advanced ICT tools based on artificial intelligence techniques to provide "alerts" in case of increased risk related to urban security.
The PRECRISIS project brings the following benefits to the Municipality of Trento:
- To increase the security of the city of Trento in collaboration with other actors in the area;
- Obtain significant improvements in the video analysis systems both in near real time and in asynchronous mode, for the automatic assessment of "anomalous" situations, (implemented by the project partner FBK), with the customised application of these techniques to the video footage of the cameras present on the municipal territory;
- Extend the functionalities of the Smart City control room of the Municipality of Trento with the functionalities implemented in the project;
- Deepen privacy management issues with regard to the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) techniques applied to images and videos that include people;
- Improving the exchange and sharing of data with other security actors in a secure and privacy-compliant manner.
