Panoramic Terrace "Busa degli orsi"

The panoramic terrace called “Busa degli Orsi” (in English “bears’ hole”) takes its name from the animals here hosted until the eighties. Extraordinary panoramic point, the terrace is situated in the hamlet of Sardagna and has also the function of open-air theatre with 80 seats.

After a long period in state of neglect, in 2017 the Busa degli orsi became a wonderful terrace overlooking the city. Thanks to its dominating position on the extremity of a cliff, the Busa is not only an ideal place for residents and tourists looking for amazing landscapes, but also an evocative place for concerts, movies and shows. Under the terrace there is a space that can be used for exhibitions.

The structure was built in weathering steel, a material that forms a rust-like appearance after several years' exposure to weather.

The deepest part of the Busa was thought as a path that begins with a steel steps, continues in the bears’ hole, built in reinforced concrete, and ends with a cantilever that allows a full immersion in the surroundings. For safety reasons, the latter panoramic viewpoint is bordered with iron bars, as the original cage for bears. The final effect is of a cage suspended mid-air.
