This late eighteenth-century niche fountain is dedicated to S. Giovanni Nepomuceno and is located in the north corner of the arcade of the Church of San Marco.

This fountain was erected to protect the area of Port’Aquila from the floods that frequently occurred there, as also is evidenced by the grooves still present in the walls of the portico, which were used to insert the movable wooden bulkheads. The statue of the Saint is located in a niche framed by two pilasters and a round arch, closed on the lower side by a wrought iron gate. The angular niche is surmounted by a frame with a Baroque-style decoration bearing the dedication to Divus Joanni Nepomuceno. The statue and the other architectural elements are in white stone from Pila. The semi-circular basin, made of limestone, has the shape of an inverted bell.
