Located inside the Palace of the Autonomous Province of Trento overlooking Piazza Dante, Sala Depero was in the past a sumptuous dining room of the Imperial Hotel Trento, then it became the seat of art exhibitions from the late twenties.

It owes its name to Fortunato Depero, an artist from Rovereto (painter, sculptor and advertising) who, between 1953 and 1956, turned it into a work of art performing there his land in a colourful harmony combining futurism, cubism and abstract art . The decor was inspired by the movements of the Mitteleuropa aesthetics, born in the mid-nineteenth century, which had their maximum and most mature expression in the first two decades of the twentieth century, particularly the Secession of Vienna. All revisited and mitigated with an Italian taste that reduces its grandeur. The manufacture was entrusted to local artisans. From 1948 to 1960, it hosted the sessions of the provincial Council and the regional one.
