
The BUC - acronym of Biblioteca Universitaria Centrale (in English Central University Library) - is the new university library in the city of Trento. It was built on a project of the Italian architect Renzo Piano and inaugurated in 2016. The building is located in the new neighborhood “Le Albere”, which takes its name from the ancient episcopal palace owned by the aristocratic family Madruzzo. The library houses the bibliographic collections of the university faculties of economics, sociology, law and humanities. There are 450 seats and around 200.000 books on open shelfin 13 rooms, across 7 floors and 2 buildings, entirely illuminated by the natural light entering through the glass ceiling.
Reserved parking lots for disabled are available in the underground parking (it is necessary to announce the arrival at the reception). Access to the floors with lift and equipped toilets.
