The Palazzo is located in the old neighbourhood of San Benedetto along one of the most important arteries of the city during the Renaissance.

In the second half of the 19th century, the ground floor underwent transformations that changed its original structure. Its painted decorations depict river allegories, flower and fruit festoons and, in the upper section, the Story of Rebecca, taken from the Book of Genesis. These decorations have been attributed to the artist Lattazio Gambara from Brescia.
The Bishop of Piacenza, Catalano Trivulzio, and the Spanish jurist Francisco de Vargas stayed in the Palazzo during the Council.
