The palace - located at the end of the block between via Suffragio and piazza della Mostra - was endowed with its current appearance in the 17th century, when its three façades were embellished with imposing, balconied portals and its internal spaces were re-organised around an inner courtyard with vaulted corridors.

Some of its distinctive features include the grotesque big masks decorating its windows and the octagonal oeil-de-boeufs on the top floor.
The pre-existing building, formerly owned by the Particella family, hosted Cardinal Pedro Pacheco, head of the Spanish Delegation during the first phase of the Council.
