Palazzo Roccabruna

An important example of Mannerist architecture, the Palazzo was erected between 1557 and 1562 under the initiative of Canon Girolamo Roccabruna.

The family’s coat of arms can be admired both on the portal’s keystone and on the entrance side, while the coat of arms of Cardinal Cristoforo Madruzzo is featured in a central position on the facade, highlighting the close connection between the Roccabrunas and the Prince-Bishop of Trento. The portal is topped by a balustrade balcony, and the rusticated masonry windows supplement the stylistic features of the façade. The palace hosts some remarkable elements, such us the hall housing the busts of Roman emperors and the chapel, decorated with 16th century frescos and devoted to St. Jerome. Beginning from the 1st January 1563 the entire palace was rent by Fernandez de Quinones, who died here on 28 December 1563, count of Luna and ambassador of King Felipe II. The building's magnificent piano nobile [main floor] is dedicated to him. Today, the Palace is the seat that the chamber of commerce of Trento has dedicated to the valorization of the territory and its products. In its rooms are organized various events and expositions with the aim of hosting the visitors and offering them local wine, food and typical handirafts. Since 2007 it has been the seat of the provincial winery of Trentino.
