The free-floating electric scooter sharing service is available in Trento for urban transportation, utilizing one of the 250 Tier-Dott branded vehicles.

This service, consistent with the objectives of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PUMS), has been promoted by the Municipality of Trento since autumn 2020 and offers a form of mobility aimed at reducing the impact of motorized vehicular traffic. It complements other shared sustainable transportation modes, such as public transportation, OnOff on-demand transportation, and bike sharing, ensuring an increasingly comprehensive mobility offer.

How the Service Works

To rent one of the 250 Tier-Dott electric scooters, you need to download the Dott app (available on the App Store and Play Store) on your smartphone, which provides real-time information on the location of available vehicles and follow the instructions.

All vehicles are geolocated to limit speed in pedestrian areas (maximum 6 km/h), prevent transit in non-service areas (generally offered in the flatter areas of the city), and prevent ending the rental in areas where parking is prohibited. All areas are visible on the Dott app and the "Sustainable Mobility" map by accessing the electric scooter sharing layer.

Where to Park

You can park the scooter at bike racks, motorcycle spaces (mopeds and motorcycles), or in one of the designated scooter spaces (reduced rate parking points) where you also receive an economic incentive. The locations of the various parking points can be viewed directly on the Dott app.

Parking is prohibited on sidewalks, anywhere that obstructs circulation (e.g., on bike paths, near driveways or intersections, etc.), and anywhere vehicle parking is prohibited.

In some protected areas, it is not possible to end the rental. These areas include Piazza S. Maria Maggiore, Piazza Duomo, Piazza d'Arogno, Via Belenzani, Piazza Fiera, Piazza della Mostra, and the area near Castello del Buonconsiglio.

If parking is done in prohibited areas, a surcharge may be applied to the rental cost directly in the app. If the violation is confirmed, penalties under the Highway Code and related regulations may apply.

Where Scooters Can Circulate

Scooters can circulate:

  • In urban areas, exclusively on roads with a speed limit of up to 50 km/h, in pedestrian areas (at a maximum speed of 6 km/h), on pedestrian and cycle paths, on cycle lanes, on bicycle priority roads, on cycle paths, and anywhere bicycle circulation is allowed;
  • Outside urban areas, exclusively on cycle paths and other routes reserved for bicycle traffic.

Riding on sidewalks and against traffic (except on streets with dual cycle lanes) is prohibited.

For protection and road safety reasons, scooters must be pushed by hand (not ridden) in certain city areas. These include Parco delle Albere near the Muse, Parco Alexander Solzenicyn near the Santa Chiara Center, Parco Gocciadoro near Santa Chiara Hospital, Giardino di Piazza Dante near the train station, Parco del Doss Trento, and Via C. Madruzzo near the cemetery.

In the Pedestrian Traffic Limited Zone (ZTL-P) and the central streets (Via Garibaldi, Via Mazzini, Piazza Duomo, part of Via Esterle, and Via Cavour), the permitted speed is reduced to 6 km/h.

Responsibilities of Electric Scooter Users

Citizens using electric scooters must comply with the Highway Code and are required, in any case, to adopt correct behaviors to ensure their own safety and that of others.
